Is It Time For A Give Away?

Does your website act as an active marketing tool or just a sign that hangs on the outside of your building?

Websites are all over the place today. Many are pretty, some interesting, there are websites that sell things and others that just sit there, year after year, just telling would be visitors the company history, location and hours.

Consider with me and idea

This idea is to get more people to your website and to get those visitor to share with their friends and associates something exciting they’ve discovered.

What is it? I have no idea.

But, it’s whatever expert and timely information you have, as an expert in your field.

Take this information and package it up and give it away, right from your website. Free information like this gets people excited, especially if the information is highly valuable to them.

Whether it is purely informational, like:

  • Recipe of the month
  • How to grow certain plants
  • When/how to winterize your home

or if it’s something that will save them time and money:

  • Does my windshield really need to be replaced?
  • When is the best time to buy a new car.
  • 10 things you can do for “x”

You posses a certain expertise that is the reason you’re in business in the first place. Finding some common information or even better, “insider” information that you can package and give away adds specific value to you in the minds of your customers.

The better the information (more valuable) the more your customers will share with their friends who will in turn, come and see for themselves.

Remember, each person that comes to your website is a potential customer so why not give them a reason to visit and better yet, a reason to tell others to visit?

Promote, promote, promote

Now that you have you article(s), recipes, how-tos, coupons, etc in place you need to start telling people about it.

Every customer should be sent an email or maybe a direct mailer piece talking up the new feature of your website. Ask them to take a look, tell their friends and give any feedback or ideas.

You could even make an event out of it with a giveaway or something as well to try and generate some extra “buzz”

Once people start taking advantage of this information and sharing it, the whole thing becomes a self promoting entity.
